RIP CanoScan 3000 ex

yes, my venerable scanner has been deemed no longer functional and i have ordered another one. An epson.. something or other, since i’m operating at the low end of the scanner market choosing a new one is like tossing rocks at passing motorists, it is not a rational endeavour.

I’m still working on finishing the two next comics, the Shasta/mikey story and the ‘wedding plan’, is being slow though, sooo slow, i must step up my game.

  1. Oh well, these things happen. Hope the replacement arrives soon!

  2. the main thing is for them to rock, like shigeru miyamoto said “a delayed game is eventually good; a bad game is bad forever”

  3. Unfortunately Shigeru Miyamoto is wrong in that regard, a delayed game can also get progressively worse. It would be more accurate to say ‘a delayed game CAN eventually be good; a bad game is bad forever.’

Either way good luck mamab, I had an old canoscan, gave it to a friend when I upgraded. Apparently it’s still trudging along.

  4. I hope you have that little gem in the world, an unexpected surprise of all scanners. Like your stories. ^_^

    Minus the scanner part.

  5. that wedding one is that a sequel to that other wedding one on Consumption?

  6. oh

p.s. is there going to be any herm cockvore in any of your future comics

  7. that makes no sense, the whole point of delaying a game is working on it, working on something usually means you re making it better

  8. no, am fraid it isnt, no herm cock vore just yet…

  9. ‘The whole point of delaying a game is working on it, working on something usually means you’re making it better.’

Yes, ‘usually’. In an ideal world this would be universally true, but let’s take a look at some heavily delayed, and in some cases eventually cancelled, games:

    DNF (3D Realms, 1997 - 2009. Essentially cancelled.)

Prey (Ended up being very average despite some good ideas.)

Too Human (Silicon Knights, 1999 - Present. Ended up being extremely average and repetitive despite good ideas.)

Galleon (Confounding Factor, 1997 - 2004. Ended up beign almost completely broken.)

Of course there are many games that have been delayed and have come out and been fantastic but I take umbridge with Shigero Miyamoto’s inference that all delayed games are eventually good. Sometimes a game’s just plain bad regardless of development time. Enhanced development time and delays can often make games immeasurably better - but not all the time.

Anyway - good luck MamaB! =D

  10. Sorry forgotten to put my screen name -_-’.

  11. I think I had a scanner like that once! Lemme know how well the Epson works. ’cause I feel like it’s time to get one that’s not terribad. :o
